Some guy's yard in the hood (While I was snapping pics, he came out and told me there was some inside joke attached to all these and invited me onto his property for a closer look. I got spooked and left.):

Dog and turtle:

Cat and mouse:

This is the first Spring Wesdom and I have not been involved in baseball. His new school doesn't have a team. But they do play Ultimate—and they're ranked nationally. Here's a couple shots from the tournament last weekend. It's a great game. I played it briefly at Carolina back in the '70s, and that mainly at around 2:00 am on weekend nights when we'd stumble onto the astroturf lacrosse field and turn on the lights and play 'til the campus cops would come and run us off. Now it's totes legit:

Love the shoes!

Probably wise!

I like the dog and turtle...was that near the water? Its shell looks too flat to be a box turtle.

I ever find my way down south, I'm buying you a beer, and then you have to take me to meet this strange neighbor of yours.

And I know the 70s were all about gas, grass, and ass, but drunken ultimate on *astroturf*, 1970s astroturf? That's the brass.

@if: Now, upon reflection, I want to go back and talk to the guy, maybe use him as a character in a story or novel. I'm curious. I'll get Randal to go along for protection.

The turtle/tortoise somehow made it into Lily's & Jake's dog run, maybe washed in in the runoff from the downpour we had last week. The runoff that swells that lovely 2 ft deep, clearwater creek in the pics below to a muddy Class 3 rapids 10-15 ft deep. Inside its shell, the turtle was covered in tiny white spots with some red on its head.

@RG: Who said drunk? It was, after all, the 70s. Maybe we were, some, b/c the drinking age was 18 back then. But Ultimate demands some coordination.

It was the first time I'd ever seen astroturf except on Oakland A's games on TeeVee, rube that I was from the Appalachians. And it was hard with a concrete bed.

Sober at 2am? In the 70s? Oh sir, you're a bloody liar.
